Google has confirmed plans to invest up to $40bn in Anthropic, with an initial $10bn committed now at a $350bn valuation and a further $30bn tied to performance targets. The announcement expands an already substantial relationship, with Google Cloud now providing 5 gigawatts of TPU-based compute capacity over the next five years as part of the deal.
Amazon made a similar move last week, investing $5bn with up to a further $20bn to follow and committing Anthropic to spend more than $100bn on AWS infrastructure over the next ten years, securing up to 5 gigawatts of capacity across Amazon's custom silicon for training and deploying Claude.
